MGAG: Chapter 78 Part 1

“Yuhuai?” Shen Xuelan urged from the front passenger seat.

“Good night.”

Shen Yuhuai glanced at Chen Qizhao. Then he turned around and got into the driver’s seat. The door closed immediately.

The car started. Chen Qizhao took two steps back and watched the Shen family’s car drive away from the Chen family’s villa.

Once the car was far away, Chen Qizhao looked down at his fingers. He waited a while before following his family and entering the villa.

Not long after entering the villa, Chen Jianhong gestured to Chen Shiming to go to the study. Then he saw Chen Qizhao not far away and said, “Xiao Zhao, you also come over.”

Chen Qizhao raised an eyebrow.

Few people could enter Chen Jianhong’s study. Even the housekeeper had to get permission from Chen Jianhong to enter. Chen Jianhong often discussed work with Chen Shiming inside. This was the first time he entered Chen Jianhong’s study without arguing. After entering, Chen Qizhao didn’t go to the desk. He sat down on the sofa next to the bookcase and looked at the two people who were sorting out files on the desk.

He could probably guess what they were doing in the study. It was nothing more than the matter of the jade necklace of the Gu family.

Sure enough, it didn’t take long for Chen Shiming to speak very clearly. He shifted the topic to the Gu family’s necklace and relayed what Chen Qizhao had said earlier to Chen Jianhong.

Chen Qizhao listened to Chen Shiming while looking down at his phone slightly. Shen Yuhuai’s chat interface was opened on the screen.

It was a bit of a distance from the Chen house to the Shen house. It took more than half an hour by car and it might be a bit later when encountering a traffic jam. He looked down at Shen Yuhuai’s profile picture and thought of his actions not long ago. Could it be that he thought incorrectly?

Chen Qizhao tapped Shen Yuhuai’s profile picture, licking in and out while thinking aimlessly.

After a while, Chen Shiming finished relaying his views and said, “Qizhao said so. We also have to consider the possibility of there being greater capital involved behind the Lin family.”

The voice in the study stopped.

Chen Qizhao’s mind returned. He turned off the screen of his phone. Then when he looked up, he noticed that the two people in the study were looking at him.

“Have you finished talking?” Chen Qizhao asked, “Do you want to give the necklace away?”

“The necklace is more likely to cause problems if it stays with us.”

Chen Shiming’s mind returned when he heard these words and he explained, “We will give it for sure.”

Chen Qizhao nodded. He was just about to give some advice when he suddenly noticed the gaze of another person in front of him.

Chen Jianhong’s gaze was on Chen Qizhao. They were full of substantive scrutiny and staring for a long time would give people a sense of breathless oppression. Chen Qizhao once hated such a gaze because it would make him feel a type of pressure from outside. This would make him involuntarily reflect on whether he had done something wrong.

Even in his previous life, he couldn’t help resisting when Chen Jianhong looked at him like this.

He didn’t know why. Perhaps it had been a long time or perhaps he was used to his father looking at him at the dinner table, but now his mood was much calmer when Chen Jianhong looked at him with such eyes.

Chen Qizhao’s eyes also fell on Chen Jianhong’s body. Perhaps it was due to the light but from his perspective, he suddenly felt that Chen Jianhong looked a bit older. He withdrew his gaze slightly and thought to himself, ‘Indeed, so many things have happened during this period of time. How can the person directly involved be okay?’

“How many things have you found?” Chen Jianhong asked.

“I have basically told you what I found and confirmed,” Chen Qizhao said. “I can also send you the information on Gu Shen later…”

“Son,” Chen Jianhong’s voice suddenly sank a bit.

Chen Qizhao was stunned for a moment before he realized that Chen Jianhong was calling him.

“How much did you get involved in this matter? When did you start to check the Lin family’s affairs and how much do you know about Lin Shizong’s conspiracy…?” Chen Jianhong frowned and asked. “You have long known the truth about the necklace. You also know the truth about Lin Shizong drugging you. How much have you checked alone from the beginning to now?”

Chen Shiming also looked at Chen Qizhao. He had the same opinion as Chen Jianhong on this matter. Chen Qizhao had checked too many things… most of it was without them knowing.

At present, the trend of things was getting bigger and bigger. The more information they got from Chen Qizhao, the more they couldn’t let it go.

Chen Shiming opened his mouth to explain, “The grievances between us and the Lin family have been from the previous generation to now. It is difficult to explain the things involved with a few words. If more interests are involved, the impact and danger brought by it are incalculable.

“How much have I checked…?”

Chen Qizhao paused for a moment. Once he heard Chen Qizhao’s question, he suddenly said, “Would you believe me if I said I had a dream?”

Chen Jianhong looked at Chen Qizhao and suddenly said sharply, “Nonsense!”

“I had a dream. I dreamed that everyone in the Chen family was gone.” Chen Qizhao looked at Chen Jianhong. His chest rose and fell as he talked. “I dreamed you suddenly had a cerebral hemorrhage and died. I dreamed that Mom got a tumor and died. I dreamed that Chen Shiming was paralyzed in a car accident. I dreamed that Lin Shizong had been planning for daces to bring down the Chen family and that he colluded with the Gu family.”

Chen Shiming listened to the story coming from Chen Qizhao’s mouth and a hesitant look appeared on his face.

Chen Qizhao’s eyes stopped on Chen Shiming. Once he saw Chen Jianhong’s still serious expression, he laughed. “Look, you don’t believe it.”

“Do you think your words are believable?” Chen Jianhong took a deep breath. “Do you know how dangerous this matter is? Lin Shizong might be a desperado. The more you investigate, the more dangerous it is. If he wants to target you, how will you avoid it?”

“I’m better than you. Don’t worry.” Chen Qizhao got up from the sofa. He understood what Chen Jianhong and Chen Shiming wanted to know. It was nothing more than the ins and outs of everything. However, these things originally came from an absurd rebirth, like a beautiful dream of salvation.

To be honest, they wouldn’t believe it and they would have to delve into the whole story if he made up a series of lies. No matter what he said, it would be difficult to get the result they wanted. Perhaps it was hard to get a real result in itself.

Sure enough, the study wasn’t a good place. Every time he came, he would always quarrel with Chen Jianhong.

“A friend I know helped me check it. His methods are hidden and it isn’t easy for him to be discovered when checking things. As for Lin Shizong, I found out that he was wrong before and I found out the problem from the friend. I didn’t know it that much earlier than you.” Chen Qizhao looked at them and explained in a relaxed tone. “You also know that for a person like me, Lin Shizong doesn’t bother to look at me. He is wary of you but not me.”

Chen Shiming looked at him and he couldn’t help his tone slowing down. “Chen Qizhao.”

Chen Qizhao didn’t want to stay in this space. If he stayed longer, he might really quarrel with Chen Jianhong. He opened the door directly. “You guys talk.”

Just as Chen Jianhong wanted to talk, he saw Chen Qizhao leave the door and not even look back at him.

He pinched between his eyebrows, his tone a bit tired. “Was my tone too heavy?”

“Maybe we didn’t use the right method,” Chen Shiming said. “Let’s ask another day when he is in a better mood.”

Outside the study, Chen Qizhao’s hands trembled slightly when he closed the door.

He frowned and calmed a certain anxiety in his body. He suppressed his body that was trembling from emotional fluctuations.

The sudden surge of emotions dissipated and he straightened his body. Then he saw Zhang Yazhi standing in front of him as soon as he looked up.

“Did you get into a fight with your father?” Zhang Yazhi looked at him.

“It isn’t noisy.” Chen Qizhao avoided his gaze. “I didn’t quarrel with them.”

Zhang Yazhi took his hand. “Then let’s ignore them. Go to the living room to watch TV with me. The little artist you signed last time has a new drama and it seems to be filmed well.”

Chen Qizhao looked slightly startled. Zhang Yazhi had already taken his hand and nagged about the content of the TV series. The hand that was still slightly trembling was pulled by the other party and seemed to suddenly calm down.

Once he arrived in the living room, Chen Qizhao’s mood had completely calmed down.

Zhang Yazhi asked the housekeeper to bring fruit. “Don’t pay attention to your father and your brother. The two of them will do business when they talk about work. Your tone of speech is like that. Sometimes, I die of anger due to your father.”

Chen Qizhao’s eyes stopped on Zhang Yazhi’s healthy, rosy face. His mood inexplicably improved. “Did they tell you about the jade necklace?”

“They said it.” Zhang Yazhi looked at Chen Qizhao when she heard this and seemed to notice something. “If you mind, Mom won’t give it to them.”

Chen Qizhao swiped on his phone. He opened up a certain page and handed it to Zhang Yazhi. “The haute couture store you like very much has quarterly limited new products.”

Zhang Yazhi stopped moving.

“I don’t know what you like.” Chen Qizhao looked away. “Tell me what you like. I’ll buy it for you.”

Zhang Yazhi didn’t grab the phone and couldn’t help saying, “Isn’t this a waste of money? A while ago, you said that you are doing investment. Money is used to invest. I have enough bags and jewelry.”

“I made a lot of money during this time.” Chen Qizhao heard this and said, “If you don’t choose then I will buy all the new ones.”

Zhang Yazhi took the phone and said critically, “This brand depends on the designer. The store is good but there are a few designers whose things don’t look good.”

Chen Qizhao didn’t speak. He just quietly watched Zhang Yazhi swipe on his phone with an interested expression on his face.

He pointed and leaned in a relaxed manner on the sofa.

Chen Qizhao watched the TV series on the TV and listened to Zhang Yazhi’s picky words as she chose things. Inexplicably, the scene of his empty living room in his apartment in his previous life appeared in his mind. The newly bought TV set hadn’t been turned on for a few years. The only thing used in the living room was the sofa. He would occasionally sit on it when tired and read documents.

It was fine when Chen Shiming was around and he could occasionally be seen sitting in the living room.

When Chen Shiming wasn’t around, the living room was really quiet. Chen Qizhao thought of moving out of the villa with Chen Shiming at the beginning. After buying an apartment, he often argued with Chen Shiming at home so he bought another suite near the company.

Later, Chen Shiming was gone. Therefore, he didn’t go back to the company’s suite but sat on the sofa and looked at photos.

Chen Jianhong and Zhang Yazhi’s memories were even longer… they died too early and the things they left would always be ineffective.

In fact, he should be glad that at least this life had been restarted. The Chen family avoided the end of his previous life and he just needed to follow his original plan step by step to… usher in a new ending.
