MGAG: Chapter 62

The Panshan intersection, this was the place where Chen Shiming had the car accident in his previous life.

Some things seemed destined, like they had been arranged long ago.

“The road conditions of the Panshan intersection are really complicated.” Zhang Yazhi paid attention to Chen Qizhao’s expression, saw that his mood didn’t seem to fluctuate much and continued speaking. “There are many residential buildings, stores and a primary school over there. There was also the obstruction of vision on a rainy day. If I knew, I would’ve sent a car to pick them up. This way, your aunt wouldn’t have crossed the road and waited for a taxi on the opposite side.”

“Does Uncle Lin know about these things?” Chen Qizhao asked. “That what happened to his wife was an accident.”

“Your Uncle Lin knows. He was on a business trip with your father at the time and came back immediately after receiving the news.” Zhang Yazhi sighed. “However, the affairs of the world are impermanent. Who could’ve expected this type of thing? I said I would send a car to pick her up, but she said it was troublesome for the driver to go back and forth and refused.”

Chen Qizhao listened to Zhang Yazhi talk, accompanied her to sort out the photos and returned to his room.

The first thing he did when he got back to his room was to check the car accident at the Panshan intersection. However, the time interval was too long and the intersection surveillance in the early years was blurred. He could only find some short reports. This incident was probably caused by a drunk driver running a red light and rushing directly to the sidewalk of the Panshan intersection. This caused six deaths and 12 serious injuries.

Such a vicious incident was relatively rare but not impossible.

In the end, reports on the Internet were one-sided. He thought for a moment before calling Xiao Zhou. Then he went to his cloakroom to get a jacket and planned to go downstairs.

Just as he came downstairs, he met Zhang Yazhi. She stopped him the moment she saw him. “Where are you going?”

Chen Qizhao replied casually, “I have to go to Feihong for something. I’ll come back before dinner.”

“What is going on at the company… you are still sick.” Zhang Yazhi couldn’t stop him when she heard it was about the company. “You are wearing too little. Wait and change into thicker clothes.”

It was past 3 o’clock in the afternoon when Xiao Zhou arrived at the Chen house. He parked in the garage and saw his boss coming out of the villa, dressed tightly. He seemed like a ball from a distance. Xiao Zhou happened to be outside when the boss called. Then he had to turn around and pick up his boss.

Once the boss got into the car, Xiao Zhou saw his boss unbutton the collar of his coat and take off his coat directly.

Xiao Zhou asked, “Boss, where are we going?”

Chen Qizhao untied his scarf. He saw that Xiao Zhou had left the villa and said, “Go to Panshan Road.”

It was a bit troublesome to go out. The only driver at home was Old Lin, who was resting. The other drivers were basically all out. Chen Qizhao had used the excuse of going to the car yard to learn to drive and retook his driver’s exam, but his driver’s license was expected to come next week. This place was inconvenient to go to, so Xiao Zhou could only come to pick him up

Panshan Road wasn’t far from the Chen house. In less than ten minutes, Xiao Zhou had driven to the vicinity of Panshan Road.

Chen Qizhao asked him to find a place to park. Then he got out of the car and looked at the road.

In recent years, S City was doing road planning and Panshan Road was a road designated to be repaired. At present, it was an ordinary truck road. In a few years, the road in this area would be fixed and it would become a short road. The road conditions were similar to what he saw on the Internet. He walked along the side of the road and glanced at the surrounding buildings out of the corner of his eye. He saw the hospital building not far ahead in the distance.

Chen Qizhao used the navigation to check the time from the hospital to this place. It wasn’t too far or too short. It took almost ten minutes when walking.

The road planning hadn’t been done yet and the road here wasn’t much different from when there was a car accident. Chen Qizhao found the route according to the navigation and had some doubts in his heart.

This place wasn’t on the way. Why did Aunt Fu go here in the first place?

He used the photos on the Internet to find the location of the accident and paid attention to the surrounding stores.

“Boss, the car is parked.” Xiao Zhou ran over.

Chen Qizhao sent him a photo and said, “Inquire with the people nearby to see if they have seen him.”

Xiao Zhou looked at the photo on his phone and recognized this person as the driver of the boss’ house.

He was puzzled in his heart and didn’t ask anything else. He immediately took the photo to the nearby area to inquire about the situation.

Chen Qizhao waited on the side of the road, paying attention to the traffic light time of the sidewalks around the intersection.

He also entered a grocery store near the intersection to ask about the situation. Chen Qizhao took a few things casually, paid for it and asked, “Sister, let me ask you something. Have you ever seen this person?”

The older sister of the grocery store saw that Chen Qizhao had bought many things and soon enthusiastically came over to take a look. “He is a bit familiar.”

Chen Qizhao asked, “Has he been here before?”

“He should be someone nearby. He looks quite familiar.”

The oldest sister was still looking at the photo when an employee came over to take a look and said, “Ah, isn’t he the one who used to come often?”

Chen Qizhao frowned slightly. “Do you have an impression?”

“Yes, he used to come here often but I haven’t seen him much since last year.” The employee thought for a moment. “This man is quite strange because he occasionally wears a suit, so I remember him. He used to sit near the toy store opposite us. Would you like to go and ask them?”

“Okay, thank you.” Chen Qizhao left the grocery store with a bag of things. Then he asked a few more stores along the way. The others were new and had no impression of this person.

This side of Panshan Road was the location of the car accident that year and Chen Qizhao only planned to ask since he was here. He didn’t expect that the driver Old Lin not only came here but also came often.

It was actually a bit broad and difficult to check the behavior trajectory of a driver. Old Lin’s personality was relatively honest and dull. He didn’t talk much. If he had a job then he would leave with Chen Jianhong or Zhang Yazhi. If he didn’t have a job then he stayed at home. It was just that he might need to go to gas stations, convenience stores, shopping malls and other places for his daily shopping.

If Chen Qizhao hadn’t come here to take a look then he wouldn’t have known that Old Lin usually came here.

Chen Qizhao pondered on it slightly. Not long after, he saw Xiao Zhou running over.

Xiao Zhou said, “Boss, I inquired about it. One or two people have a small impression of him.”

Chen Qizhao glanced around before handing him a bottle of water that he bought from the grocery store. “Go to the car and say it.”

Once in the car, Xiao Zhou took a sip of water and started to speak. “This person used to come here by himself just one or two years ago. However, he rarely comes recently. When he does come, he just sits in the place I visited, as if looking at the sidewalk. He is always dazed when people talk to him. “Oh yes, isn’t there a toy store opposite that place?”

“A toy store?” Chen Qizhao looked sideways.

“Yes, I asked the owner of the toy store. The first time I asked, the toy store owner didn’t say anything because he thought I was a reporter coming to inquire about the situation nearby.” Xiao Zhou continued, “It was only later that he said this person was bad for his business.”

Chen Qizhao was puzzled. “How was he bad for business?”

“Occasionally, parents will take their children to buy toys…” Xiao Zhou explained. “It is outrageous. Isn’t the toy store close to the flower bed? The boss said that several times when parents brought their children here to buy things, he would stare at them. It isn’t known if he hates children or something, but he once threw a bottle of mineral water at someone’s parents and almost started a fight.”

“And then?” Chen Qizhao frowned.

“Then there was nothing else. The boss argued with him and he didn’t come here much later on.”

He was still puzzled when he said this. “I have met Uncle Lin before. He isn’t usually so agitated.”

“Really?” Chen Qizhao lowered his eyes slightly while thinking about what he had said to Old Lin in the car before.

He suddenly smiled. “When you looked at Jiang Yuze before, didn’t you also think he was good?”

“Eh? It isn’t comparable…”

“Who knows?” Chen Qizhao’s eyes swept over the other locations outside the window. “Ask again.”

Chen Qizhao and Xiao Zhou walked around here a few times, but the people working in the stores often changed. Most of them only remembered that there had been a car accident here before. They couldn’t remember anything else.

By the time Chen Qizhao got home, it was past 6 o’clock. Zhang Yazhi was drawing pictures in the garden and there was still some time before dinner.

He saw that the housekeeper was here and asked questions casually.

“Sir was actually very concerned about this matter. After the accident, he gave Old Lin half a year’s leave to adjust his mood and helped deal with the aftermath of his wife and child dying. Ma’am also blamed herself. She originally wanted Old Wu to pick up the mother and son. I was the one to call and ask, but Xiao Fu refused. She wanted to buy something.”

Chen Qizhao asked, “What to buy?”

“It was raining and I didn’t hear clearly.” The housekeeper was puzzled. “Second Young Master, why are you suddenly interested in this matter?”

Chen Qizhao said casually, “I was sorting out the photo album with my mother and saw Aunt Fu’s child. I became a bit curious.”

The housekeeper told him, “Sir and your brother will be coming back late. It will be past 8 o’clock when dinner is served.”

“I see.” Chen Qizhao simply went upstairs. He felt that there was something strange about this matter so he sent the location of the Panshan intersection to Chen Shiming and mentioned the car accident. He also sent an email to another person to check what happened at the Panshan intersection during this time.

Suspicion without evidence was likely to be excluded as the cause in the end.

Chen Shiming was investigating the whole incident and the driver was one of his suspects. This matter couldn’t be concluded until evidence was obtained.

So sometimes, he could only force the other party.

Still, he couldn’t do things too hastily. He had to wait until the target entered step by step.

Chen Qizhao lit a cigarette. He sat cross-legged on the chair and swept his gaze over the already dark sky outside the window, his mood calm.

He didn’t speak. He let the cigarette burn to the end before throwing it into the ashtray.

His phone on his desk vibrated. Chen Qizhao’s mind returned and he noticed the VX message notification that popped up on the lock screen. He stopped thinking about the previous matter and picked up his phone to scan the information.

Shen Yuhuai sent him another photo of the succulents.

Chen Qizhao’s gaze paused slightly. He walked to the bedside with his phone and clicked on the photo to enlarge it. However, he didn’t see the reflection in the glass like last time.

[Zhao: Are you at home?]

[Shen Yuhuai: Yes, I am resting today.]

Chen Qizhao tapped on the screen while absentmindedly thinking about the strange dream he had a few days ago.

He simply sent a video call invitation and the other person soon connected.

Chen Qizhao’s eyes froze slightly.

Shen Yuhuai, dressed in home clothing, came into view while holding a watering can in his hand. After connecting the video call, he placed the watering can on the chair and asked, “Why did you suddenly make a video call?”

Chen Qizhao’s eyes were on Shen Yuhuai’s body for a short time. Then he said, “It is interesting to see the succulents. Have you raised a lot of them?”

Shen Yuhuai heard this and pointed the camera at the plants covering the balcony. The shelves were filled with some flowers and plants that Chen Qizhao couldn’t name. Shen Yuhuai asked, “Which one do you want to look at?”

“The one on the left.”

Shen Yuhuai laughed. “There are quite a few on the left. Which one do you mean?”

Chen Qizhao mentioned one casually.

Shen Yuhuai walked over and focused the camera on the potted plant. The sound of the introduction came from the video.

Chen Qizhao watched Shen Yuhuai’s hand appear in the camera, fiddling with the light of the potted plant. Light shone on the potted plant and the effect in the video was more obvious.

Shen Yuhuai said, “This doesn’t look very pretty through the camera. I’ll bring you here to take a look when I have time.”

Chen Qizhao hummed in agreement while his eyes rested on Shen Yuhuai’s hand.

It really wasn’t clear in the video… it was far from the photo or the dream. Thinking of that dream, Chen Qizhao’s gaze paused for a while. He listened to Shen Yuhuai’s voice and asked, “Brother Huai, what is that on the leaf of the potted plant on the right?”

Shen Yuhuai adjusted the lens. “Which one?”

Chen Qizhao saw him go to pull away the branches and leaves and took a screenshot of the hand that appeared in the camera. His voice remained unchanged. “No, maybe I saw it incorrectly.”

In the evening, Chen Shiming finished eating and saw Chen Qizhao sitting on the sofa and watching a popular drama with Zhang Yazhi.

Chen Qizhao’s expression looked shy. He seemed to be looking at something while scrolling on his phone.

Chen Shiming coughed.

Zhang Yazhi heard this and tilted her head to look at him. “Do you have a bad throat?”

“No.” Chen Shiming gave Chen Qizhao a look, but this person didn’t seem to see his hint.

He had no choice but to sit down next to Chen Qizhao. Chen Qizhao had suddenly sent him a report on the car accident at the Panshan intersection, but he didn’t reply to any messages after that.

Zhang Yazhi looked at the two brothers suspiciously, especially Chen Shiming who seemed out of place in his suit. She wondered, “Are you okay tonight?”

Chen Shiming replied, “I’m fine. I’ll watch TV with you.”

Zhang Yazhi looked at the two brothers suspiciously. Finally, she saw that they had no other reaction and focused on the TV. Seeing her attention shift, Chen Shiming turned to look at Chen Qizhao and noticed that the other person was hiding his phone slightly.

Chen Shiming said, “I didn’t look at your phone.”

Chen Qizhao snorted. “Really?”

“What are you going to do?” Chen Shiming lowered his voice. “Uncle Lin has already been given a week off and no other evidence has been found against him. I’m afraid that if it drags on, we will alert him.”

“I haven’t thought much.” Chen Qizhao’s eyes fell on the photo that was a screenshot of the video. He turned off the screen of his phone and said casually, “We aren’t the ones who are anxious. If there is no evidence, just wait for him to release evidence… let him continue to have a holiday. After a long time, he should become anxious.”

For Chen Qizhao, his bottom line was the safety of his family.

Once a certain barrier was lifted, he had plenty of patience to wait for his prey… he didn’t care how much hardships Uncle Lin experienced or the reason. This person was now under his nose, the surveillance of the villa at home and Chen Shiming’s people, etc. It was too easy to watch such a person.

Chen Shiming frowned and thought about Chen Qizhao’s words. “Xiao Xu will come out with the results of the investigation tomorrow and I’ll take it home to you.”

“I won’t be home tomorrow,” Chen Qizhao said.

“Where are you going?”

Chen Qizhao looked at him doubtfully. “Shouldn’t I go back to school when I am better?”

Zhang Yazhi, who was watching TV, suddenly turned around. She thought of the doctor’s words. “Why are you going back to school so quickly? Stay at home during this time. Let the driver drop you off when you have class.”

“I had a fever and it has been a few days since the fever subsided. Wasn’t it okay when I went for the physical examination?”

Chen Qizhao paused. “It is convenient to stay in school for classes. I will come back on the weekend.”

Classes were a secondary matter. The main thing was that he had something to do.

Zhang Yazhi asked, “When are you leaving?”

Chen Qizhao replied, “Tomorrow morning.”

It was only three days before Saturday. Zhang Yazhi was worried he didn’t bring enough clothes so she gave him an extra set of clothes before leaving in the morning. Chen Qizhao was carrying a bag and caught a ride in Chen Shiming’s car. He said casually, “Urge the car yard. Why hasn’t my driver’s license come yet?”

“How long has it been since you took the test?” Chen Shiming saw him undo the scarf and said, “Wrap it up.”

“It is hot in the car.”

Chen Shiming glanced at Special Assistant Xu, who hurriedly opened the rear window. He said, “It is ventilated now.”

Chen Qizhao: “……”

The car drove out of the garage. Through the window, Chen Qizhao glanced at the room above the garage and seemed to see the curtains there shake twice.

He soon withdrew his gaze. Then he saw Zhang Yazhi talking to the housekeeper not far away and pulled up his scarf a bit.
